Getting Your Partner to the Beach

Many of us want to look and feel beautiful when getting engaged. It’s such a special moment in your life. If you have booked a photographer, then there’s even more reason for you both to get dressed up.

If my partner asked me to go to the beach, the first thing I would do is lather myself in sunscreen and throw on a wide brim hat. So, how do you get your soon to be fiancé to the beach, looking lovely, without raising suspicion?

My advice is to organise a dinner booking, which provides a good reason for both of you to get dressed up. Then, once you are all ready to jump into the car, you could pretend that you got the reservation time wrong and that it’s not until later. You can then suggest stopping by the beach for a quick walk before sunset to kill some time. After all, we have the most amazing beaches in the Southwest for a romantic stroll. It’s such a common thing for couples to do.

Upon arriving at the beach, you can declare that the proposal setting was set up especially for you both. Most of my clients are still in complete shock at this point and are taking in the beautiful setting, not realising that they are about to get engaged.

I would suggest making a dinner reservation for the same evening so that you can continue the celebrations over dinner.

Getting Your Partner to the Winery

A winery proposal is the easiest way to get your partner from A to B without ruining the surprise. Most couples get dressed up and enjoy a wine tour during their getaway to Margaret River, so what better time to sneak in a proposal?

If you happen to be traveling with friends or family, then it is even easier. You can plan to meet them at a winery for a private wine tasting. It’s best to make out that you have a booking so that you can run on time and stick to the plan. Involving others means that your partner is less likely to question why you have picked that particular winery or ask you a heap of questions. You can say you don’t know the details as you were also invited. Also, if you are not really the romantic type or the one in the relationship that organises these types of activities, then your partner won’t be suspicious if you are simply meeting other friends or family there.

If you are traveling by yourselves, then you can just mention that you have booked a private tasting at a winery and that you wanted to do something romantic. It’s ideal to book these things on an anniversary or Valentine’s Day, as that’s a good excuse to show your romantic side and not raise suspicion.

It’s also nice to book in a nice lunch to celebrate afterward.
